Validity.

....is this not what most people crave in their life.

 VALIDATION.

They crave the validity of friendship, of success, of many (some very pointless) things. Usually materialistic things. People in the present time do not like to be considered differed, because if you are then different you are not what's 'cool'. If you're different you're considered to be weird, an outcast, to be an outsider. Much like the classic book The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton, children, even adults, aren't who they portray to be. They act a certain way because that's how they are expected to act by their parents, by fellow peers, by a group they may be pursuing to be accepted into. Whether that be a social group, a sorority, even a certain crew at work they'd like to be 'in' with. While wanting acceptance is fine, want it for the RIGHT REASONS and with the RIGHT PEOPLE. Most of the people you are trying to fit in with, you will find, are only interested what you have. Which once again circles back to my theory of these same people needing the validity of their materialistic and flashy items. Just be yourself, be different, be creative, BE YOU; you only live one life, why would you want to waste your precious time on this earth and pretend you whole life? It seems quite tiring to me, but that's only my personal opinion.
